The government has recently confirmed the packaging waste recycling targets for 2024.
The target for general recycling has been raised from 77% to 80%. Wood is the only material with a year-on-year increase (35% to 42%).
These targets will be applied to the volume of packaging you handled in 2023 to calculate your 2024 obligation under the Packaging Waste Regulations 2007.
You will need to report your packaging data to the scheme by the 1st March 2024 under the Packaging Regulations 2007.
Other observations include:
- The percentage of glass to be recycled by re-melt will increase to 75%
- Allocation method tonnage will remain at 35t
